Behind the Scenes

I start with my notes app. Sometimes just a line comes out, other times, a whole song. Whenever I'm inspired, creativity hits as I carefully type out my lyrics, thinking about the rhythm, melody, and rhyming as I go.

After playing around with the lyrics, rhythm, and melody, I go over to the piano and just start playing (usually sus chords) until something sounds right. I will then record a demo of just vocals and piano, workshopping and tweaking as I go along

I start with piano and once I'm content with how it sounds with the vocals, I'll hop on garageband and plunk out the piano and vocals. Then I'll add some guitar, cajon, bass, strings, and background vocals.

After I'm content with how it all sounds on garageband, I'll notate it all on finale and make separate charts for each instrument to hand out for rehearsals.
