Singer/Songwriter
Rose Mooney is a singer/songwriter based in Greater Boston and an alum of Berklee College of Music where she studied musical theatre performance, songwriting, and voice. Rose's original songs are folky with musical theatre influences that are usually about love, heartbreak, nature, and mental health. Her musical influences are dodie, Ben Platt, Hozier, Lizzy McAlpine, and Noah Kahan. She writes for vocals, piano, guitar, bass, drums/cajon, and strings, creating a unique folky sound while storytelling in the musical theatre realm. Rose tries to bring together a community every time she performs, from her audience to her friends and loved ones who play her music in her band, in hopes that it reaches the audience it needs to with her healing and uplifting lyrics. Performance highlights include Breaking Sound at pinkFROG cafè and Caffè Nero, The Burren, The Bebop, Newton's 4th of July celebration singing the National Anthem, her senior recital in the Red Room, Crepusculum Chamber Choir, and various porchfests and music festivals around Greater Boston.
Music Director and Educator
While at Berklee, Rose also studied music education. When she’s not performing, Rose is a music director and teacher for children’s theater, mainly at Wellesley Theatre Project. She has experience music directing musicals, choirs, and private lessons in both voice and piano. Music directing highlights include How to Train Your Dragon, James and the Giant Peach, and Newsies. Rose cares very deeply for the students that she works with, striving to create a community where they feel safe to be themselves with no judgment. She is very passionate about music and sharing her love of music to her students. Because she is a performer as well as an educator, Rose has a unique songwriter and performer perspective. With Berklee under her belt, Rose knows the ins and outs of vocal pedagogy and songwriting. She is very empathetic towards her students and wants them to be happy in and out of the classroom. She believes learning music should be fun and open to any age and background. Music can create change and make a huge impact in any person’s life while bringing people together. Rose wants to show that to her students. She hopes to inspire and uplift her students through her music.
